Yuksom is an ancient city in Sikkim province of India. Because of this, it is at times referred to as Sikkim Yuksom, or Yuksom Sikkim. There was a time when this town in Geyzing of Sikkim was the capital of the state. However, the capital is now shifted to Gangtok. The origins of this city can be traced as far back as 1642. Sikkim has had its share of rulers called Chogyals.

The climate of the city is very pleasant though the winds here are quite strong. People who tour Sikkim usually include a visit to this place. Buddhist monasteries and Gompas draw the crowds here, apart from the natural surroundings which offer excellent trekking, hiking, and mountaineering choices. Growing popularity of travel in Sikkim is causing concerns about the destruction of the delicate ecological balance out here. Therefore, international communities are trying to ensure survival of the place in pristine condition as far as possible. Because Yuksom forms the base for mountaineers who come here, it needs hotels. Therefore, hotels in Yuksom mostly cater to the needs of adventure sports.

Yuksom breweries is one of the famous breweries in India that produces beer. It is also famous brewery because Hindi actor Danny Denzongpa owns part of it. The brewery is based in Sikkim though today it has offices and retailing outlets throughout the country and employs many people.
