Cochin is a coastal city in Kerala. It faces the Arabian Sea. The dusk and dawn times on its beaches are very picturesque. Adding to the beauty are the Western Ghats which are usually covered with lush green vegetation.  It ranks high on the lists of National Geographic and World Travel and Tourism Council. The original township has grown over the years to include other areas such as Fort Cochin beach which is also known as Fort Kochi beach.

This beach deserves a mention because one of the unique things about Cochin can be seen here. Large sized Fishing nets brought into the country from China during the era of Kublai Khan are still being used here. In addition the shoreline has several bungalows that are built in European style. There are several villas in Kochi which offer all contemporary facilities. Places to visit in this city include Dutch palaces on Bolghatty Island, and in Mattancherry, St. Francis Church located in Fort Kochi, Jewish Synagogue in Mattancherry, and a few other historic buildings. There are city guides that offer more details about Cochin.

Cochin port offers some of the most modern facilities to the ships and people who export or import goods.  Cochin is now well connected by trains and buses. It also has its own airport. To promote Cochin tourism, the state government has offered several incentives. There are hotels that face the sea. Traveling on a boat hotel in Cochin is one of the best experiences.
