Bilaspur of Himachal Pradesh is different from Bilaspur cg or Bilaspur of Chattisgarh.  Though this Bilaspur does have a long and colorful history, contemporary Bilaspur is almost a new city that has been built in place of the original city by this name which had to be submerged when dam was built on Sutlej river.

Bilaspur is like almost all hill stations of Himachal Pradesh, i.e., it is located at a higher altitude, even though much of it is in valley between the surrounding mountains. The city is picturesque, but in contemporary sort of way. The historical facts about Bilaspur are in fact those about the submerged city.  Tourist haunts in Bilaspur include Naina Devi temple, Bhakhra and Govind Sagar Lakes, etc.
