The Times of India has the largest circulation amongst the English-language newspapers in the world, according to Audit Bureau of Circulations, in various formats like compact, tabloid, broadsheet, and online during the year 2008. Bennett, Coleman & Co.

Ltd owns and publishes this daily newspaper. In accordance to the Indian Readership Survey 2011,

the Times of India is the most extensively read English newspaper in the whole of India with readership of 74.71 lakhs.

This helped the newspaper to become the top English daily by readership within the country.

During the late 2006, Times Group purchased Vijayanand Printers Limited which was publishing 2 Kannada newspapers

Usha Kiran and Vijay Karnataka and English daily called Vijay Times wherein Vikay Karnataka was the primary newspaper in Karnataka then.

During the month of January 2007, Kannada edition was established in the City of Bangalore which was later stopped in the year 2010.

The Chennai edition was established in the year 2008. Hindustan Times and The Hindu are their main competitors in the market that hold third and second position according to circulation.

The Times of India is published in various cities such as Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Mysore, Pune and Thiruvanathpuram.
