Chungthang

Perched between the Lachung Chu and River Lachen lies Chungthang at Sikkim. This tiny city s situated around 95 kilometres away from the main city of Gangtok.

The town of Chungthang north Sikkim is also home to one of the most important Indian army bases including a medical centre in the town as well. If you’re looking for places to visit in Sikkim, then you must give this town a try. It might not be like your usual hill station towns, but that is what makes this one different.

Chungthang Sikkim is one of those towns which are the holy towns. This town has said to have been blessed by Guru Padamasambhava, who is the most patriot saint of the city of Sikkim, so if you are on a north Sikkim tour, a visit to this town should be there in your schedule. There exists a small patch of land in this place where there is the growth a paddy every year, which pretty much makes this place in Chungthang a miracle. The locals believe that the said sprinkled a handful of grains at that very spot, making it holy. Although there might be other places to visit in Gangtok as well, this small town is definitely worth a look.
