Imphal is the capital city of the Indian state, Manipur. In the heart of the Imphal City, are the ruins of the old Palace of Kangla. Kangla fort used to be the home of the paramilitary force of Assam. Later on November 2004, it was handed over to the state of Manipur. On 1997, the Imphal India district was split in to Imphal East and Imphal West.
