Bareilly is a city in Bareilly district. It is the capital of Bareilly division. It is the manufacturing centre for cotton, furniture, cereal and sugar. Bareilly gained its status after it was included in the "counter magnets" of the national capital region. This fast growing city is also called as Bans Bareilly, named after its two princes Bansaldev and Baraldev. It is also called as Nath Nagri as it has several temples which are popular all over the world. Bareilly lies in northern India. It borders pilibhit and Shahjahanpur on East and Rampur on the west.

The average literacy rate about Bareilly is 84%. The people of Bareilly are food lovers.

The city is full of eateries with strange names and traditional recipes. It is known for its extremely unique seekh Kababs which consists of minced meat in a mixture of herbs, spices, tamarind which are grilled over charcoal.

Bareilly is an educational hub of Uttar Pradesh with multiple universities and research universities.

Bareilly College, Bareilly is a prime college located in Uttar Pradesh. It was established in the British period in the year 1837. Later in 1850, it was raised to the status of Government College.

It has now completed more than one hundred seventy years of useful services.
